Welcome to FHB Kids!
Whether you’re a regular at Ballantyne Village on Sunday mornings or just thinking about stopping by to check out our community, we hope you’ll find just what you’re looking for here.
At Forest Hill we believe that parents are the most important influence in their children’s spiritual development. We have made it our mission to partner with and empower parents as together we teach children how to follow Jesus.
Below you’ll find lots of useful information for families, but if you have additional questions or specific needs we can assist with please feel free to contact our FHB Kids Director, Jenny Schmitt.
We hope to see you soon!
BABES (infants)
Our youngest children experience a safe, nurturing environment in Babes. Infants (non-walkers) are lovingly cared for in their own classroom which has places to sleep, play, and cuddle with a caregiver.
TODDLERS (walkers)
Once children become mobile, they have their own area, which allows them to be active and play with their friends. Each week teachers share a brief Bible story and allow these children to experience a fun and simple activity associated with that story.
THE ART STUDIO (preschool)
Each week our preschoolers engage in large and small group activities that reinforce one of three core values:
(1) God Made Me
(2) God Loves Me
(3) Jesus Wants To Be My Friend Forever
Children gather for a fun and interactive large group lesson. Following large group time each child participates with a smaller life group where they engage in discussions and activities that reinforce the lesson for that day. Additionally, all children are invited to participate in a ‘hands on’ activity each week that corresponds with the core value they are learning.
THAT THING (K-5th grade)
Elementary age children participate in a dynamic large group worship and teaching experience which includes anything from live drama to captivating videos – all of which present the monthly virtue in a fun and creative way. Additionally, the kids spend in their life groups with same-age peers to discuss the week’s lesson as they get to know God and each other in a deeper way.
All children K-5th grade and their parents are also invited to The Big Deal (featuring The Reel Deal news team!).
PARENT PLUG-IN’s
Other ways that we want to plug-in to parents throughout the year include:
(1) First Step – entry point into our family ministry…expectant parents or parents of newborns are invited to share in a parent prep time followed by a special child dedication celebration with family and friends
(2) 1st grade Bible Presentation – a time to equip parents with the necessary tools to guide their children through the Bible
(3) Next Step – parents participate with their child once the child has decided to commit their life to Christ
(4) New Family Orientation – at least twice per year our children’s ministry team and student ministry team come together to meet and greet any families that are new to the FHB community
For more information about any of these opportunities for parents please contact Jenny Schmitt.
